This film traces back India's historical relations with South East Asia as seen through the prism of maritime contact between the two regions. The film travels through 10 countries and explores the growth of port towns in India that played a critical role in the exchange of nutmeg, pepper and cloves to the highly prized Gujarati textiles. The film also shows how Indian traditions have become an integral part of South East Asia. This includes exchange of mythological epics like Ramayana and Mahabharata, as well as the influence on architecture as seen in Borobudur and Angkor Wat.
