John Shaffner (A 1976) and Joe Stewart (A 1977), award-winning production designers of shows such "The Big Bang Theory," "Friends" and "Two and a Half Men,” reflect on their experience at Carnegie Mellon University and in the television industry, and offer advice for the Class of 2019.

John and Joe each received an honorary Doctor of Fine Arts at CMU’s 122nd Commencement on Sunday, May 19, 2019.
