The Institute for the Management of Creative Enterprises featured Rob Marshall (A'82) as part of the Steiner Speaker Series. A graduate of Carnegie Mellon University's School of Drama, Rob Marshall is one of the most accomplished directors of the past 20 years.
His films have been honored with a total of 23 Academy Award nominations — winning nine, including Best Picture. His most recent film, "Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides," has grossed over $1 billion at the worldwide box office — becoming the eighth-highest grossing picture in history. Among his many notable directorial efforts include the Academy Award-winning films "Chicago" and "Memoirs of a Geisha."
A six-time Tony Award nominee and George Abbott Award winner, Marshall's stage work includes co-directing and choreographing the worldwide award-winning Broadway production of "Cabaret" and directing and choreographing the Broadway revival of "Little Me."
The Steiner Speaker Series was made possible through the generosity of David (E'51, H'11) and Sylvia Steiner. The series is designed to bring national and international leaders in the entertainment and cultural industries to Carnegie Mellon.
The Institute for the Management of Creative Enterprises is a joint program of the College of Fine Arts and the H. John Heinz III College.
